Le Mars – An agreement with ISG Engineering from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with the preparation of the preliminary design work on the renovations of the city park, was approved on Tuesday, February 18, in Le Mar's city council meeting.
ISG receives a maximum of 77,380 US dollars.
This is part of a comprehensive plan to invest 11 million US dollars in city parks, whereby the city contributes 5.5 million US dollars from local option sales and service tax revenues as well as money from bonds based on lost funds. The Le Mars Area Betterment Foundation will offer the other 5.5 million US dollars.
The city council Brad Pick said that the initial costs came from sales and service tax money, not from basic taxes or a new tax.
“Well, buy native,” said Pick.
The city council Clark Goodchild said that the income from property tax pays for ongoing maintenance.
“Good point, fair point,” said Pick.
The Municipal Park will undergo major changes and improvements. Existing structures are evaluated and several additions to the park.
The Willow Creek banket hall is expanded to operate up to 500 people. Both the existing catering kitchen and the portable petrol station are updated.
Pick said that the additional room will mean that more large events can be held, which Le Mars increases economically.
Six pickleball courts and three tennis courts are added and two volleyball spaces are overtaken. Everyone has sporting lighting, and the circumference and barrier fences are installed.
A new park pavilion is being built. Open accommodation is built near the existing shelter, and picnic protection is added by an existing volleyball court. Up to three paved places are created to house tents and offer the supplier room with added cat lights.
The parking lot is expanded, with 36,500 square meters of concrete parking space being added. The lighting is installed. Wedwears will join, there will be parking stations that meet American with disabilities Act (ADA). Significant and strip work are done.
Other parks are also improved.
The work in the O'Toole Park is in progress, with a splash pad, a new clubhouse and playground around the Splash pad.
The Cleveland Park, which gave the foundation a playground, will add an integrative playground for children of all skills, another animal shelter, three basketball spots and a Futsal-Platz for the game of the indoor football game.
Sunset Park will receive a kayak starting area, a property of apartment complexes, a small picnic protection, and the leisure path is extended behind the existing pond.
The Schafer Park, which has a natural environment, will add sidewalks and sculptures with the aim of almost maintaining it and using the existing green areas at the same time.
