If you've been paying attention to Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott's social media feeds, you're probably privy to the power couple/design enthusiast's whimsical and inspiring interiors. Now the duo have unveiled their latest project: a renovation of their New York apartment, and we're completely obsessed with the terrace.
In a post shared on their pages, we can see that green color works wonders to make the outdoor space feel invigorating, inviting and fresh as ever. It's the perfect complement to the black and white tile floors, stone urn planter and monochrome lounge chair. It also gives us many patio ideas.

Christopher Knight Home outdoor side table
Instead of heavy wooden or concrete side tables, look for a lightweight material like this surprisingly stylish trellis table. This way it can be easily moved around when hosting, and I love the soft green tone for added elegance.
Perfect for putting your feet up, creating additional seating or just adding a touch of print to your patio. Its matcha green hue is perfect for achieving Zooey's look even without color.
According to design insiders, a green tea color that Zooey and Jonathan chose is currently particularly trendy, appropriately because of a coffee shop.
“This trendy shade is inspired by the rising popularity of Blank Street, a popular matcha café chain that has sparked a craze for the calming yet invigorating tones of matcha green,” explains Michael Rolland, Managing Director of The paint shed. “The shade's calm properties make it a versatile choice, perfect for creating calm living spaces, refreshing kitchens or even enlivening outdoor furniture.”
Michael says that one of the best ways to decorate with green is to combine it with warm neutrals for a natural look. However, for the maximalists among us, there are some better options.
“The best way to style a matcha green shade is to take advantage of its fun and bright properties,” he says. “Combining with neutral colors like beige and cream makes the shade stand out, but warm tones like burnt orange complement the tones beautifully.”
He continues: “The safest option for such a bold color would be to use the shade within the kitchen or bedroom cabinets.” It's also important to consider where in the house natural light comes in – avoid using it in a darker room, as this color thrives in sunlight.”
We love Little Greene's Garden 86 for a patio that adds a pop of matcha color.
