The construction of the Asaan Museum, a new cultural institution in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The project is the first use of Adobe Construction by the company worldwide.

The Asaan Museum is located in the historic district of Atraif, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010 and is inspired by traditional NAJDI forms. The museum is built from the region made from the region, a material with roots in the stunning area of the region. The use of Adobe offers strong thermal insulation and a high thermal mass that is suitable for Diriyah's desert climate.

The museum commissioned by the MISK Foundation will contain interactive exhibitions, immersive exhibitions and nature conservation laboratories. The program of the museum includes education, art and administration, each organized by one of three shaded courtyards, which reflect the spatial logic of the NAJDI architecture.

The museum is part of the broader Diriyah Gate Masterplan, a national heir initiative that aims to develop a walk -in, sustainable urban environment and at the same time protect the historical structure of Diriyah. The design includes shaded gardens, promenades on the roof and public places to promote the commitment of the community.

“The three -story design is defined by the scale and geometries of the old town as well as the traditional construction techniques and materials of the museum,” said Zaha Hadid Architects. “This materiality consists of the local clay of the region and reflects Diriyah's historical folk architecture.”
