Young art installation for the transformation of the tunnel in Mitchell

A public art project directed by local young people will change the Henry Street tunnel in Mitchell.

According to a media release from Perth County, the new art project is a partnership between the County, Mitchell District High School, the Youth Unlimited YFC Tri-City and the West Perth Heritage and Culture Committee.

In April, West Perth Council described the Henry Street Tunnel, which is located at the intersection of Henry Street and the Pond Street as a public street art area.

The tunnel, which is already filled with graffiti, will go through a transformation on June 13th. Youth artists will paint a uniform background over the inappropriate work of art and at the same time get the graffiti existing there.

During work, the students are guided by Paint by the professional artist Roy Verbeek. The public is encouraged to see on June 13 between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to observe the new work of art. The topic is “My West Perth” and the students will include what West Perth means for them.
