UNC announces a merchant blockade to protest the Indo-Myanmarian border fences

Imphal: The United Naga Council (UNC) announced on Tuesday that from midnight on September 8th he will impose a trade embargo in the NAGA areas to protest against the continuing border teeth and the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmaric border.

The decision was made during the UNC Presidential Council meeting on August 11th.

In an explanation, the UNC said that the Naga people have repeatedly handed over the Indian government through official memoranda, excitement, demonstrations, public rallies and press explanations since January 2024. Despite these efforts, she accused the center of maintaining an “indifferent attitude”.

The Council warned of more excitement to oppose the scrap of FMR and the construction of border fences, which, according to the information from Naga Homeland, threatened identity and inherent land rights. It also appealed to the cooperation and solidarity of the Naga communities in Manipur and cross -border to defend their rights, their culture and their traditional relationships in the fight for a worthy future.
