The video by Pomerleau Construction presented this week shows the remarkable renovation of the Oratoire Saint-Joseph, the largest religious building in Montreal. Pomerleau led the ambitious transformation and mixed historical preservation with innovative design. The project comprises a new 5,814 m² pavilion, in which a restaurant, a boutique and a visitor room with 62 bells are included in a striking glass campanile – the only carillon of its kind in Quebec. This sonic and architectural miracle loss is the entire location and complements the meticulously restored pilgrimage staircase made of red cedar and granite. Pomerleau also prioritized sustainability and aimed at the Leed silver certification with green roofs, rainwater systems and environmentally friendly materials. The accessibility was improved with redesigned parking spaces and inclusive ways. An important technical task was to install a massive, networked wooden ceiling, which included 74 precision -oriented panels with a weight of 44,000 kg. The coordination of the arrival and placement of the bells from France added further complexity. With the strategic cooperation with the Oratoire, Pomerleau ensured that the modernization respected the sacred character of the site and at the same time improved the experience of the visitors.
