It is officially the season in which my garden gets out of control. It is too hot to pour the plants, pull the weeds or cut something, so I inevitably just let go of everything. To mention unnecessarily, my garden is in rough Form.
And in my third pregnancy trimester this summer it was only more dampened to step outside even more in the Alabama heat. But my nest got the best of me, and I absolutely cannot bear the fact that the weeds take over parts of my garden. Let's call it nesting or maternal anger cleaning – but they absolutely had to go.
In the past, I usually only pulled up weeds by hand, especially those who crawl through the crevices of our brick path. Our garden is often used by our two dogs and our toddler and it is always like the safest option. However, this year I am obviously not too weed. So I looked up high and low for an option for pet and child-proof and stumbled on spruce.
Spruce is a weed and grass killer made from water, essential oils and surfactants. Therefore, it is completely safe to use both children and pets. It is better to promise results within an hour and totally dead weeds with one day. To be honest, it sounded a bit too good to be true, but I was fascinated enough to check it.
I would like to emphasize that spruce is both a weed and grass Killer, so you want to be sure that you only use it near plants you want to die. I mainly sprayed it on our brick path, on our air conditioning and on a barren part of a garden bed that I did not come to replant. I was sure that I kept a lot of distance between the spray nozzle and my shrubs or flowers.
The smell of Spruce's formula is quite strong, but not chemical. However, the essential oils come through strong and definitely hold. I was still able to smell the spray until the next day, but since I totally overwhelmed the weed (as dependent), it was not so surprising, it was not so surprising.
I really loved the spray applicators in both bottles. The smaller one only requires that you put the bottle around your head and press a button to spray, while the larger size has a user -friendly nozzle and no pump is required.
Low and lo and behold, within an hour I could already see most of the weeds that I had sprayed down at least. Some had already started to become brown. Twenty of four hours later, most plants were dead or at least on the best way to be dead. The weed killer has definitely played the best on the weeds that had been fled by columns in our Brick Walk Way, which is the ideal place to use the spray according to the brand. In areas where weed growth was thicker, especially with a piece of crab grass that had taken over one of my beds, the weeds were likely to use a different spray. But you can see a visible difference in the area that I sprayed and in which I avoided to get too close to one of our hydrangea.
My only complaint about Spruce's Weed Killer is the smaller packaging. The instructions are clear that you have to coat the entire plant and not just the root, and since the bottle is not entirely full, a single bottle ran out pretty quickly. If you have to spray more than a weed here or there, I would definitely choose either the three packs of smaller bottles or the larger bottle with the spray nozzle applicator. I should also mention that spruce at 30 US dollars is a little more expensive for 30 fluid omes than their traditional weed and grass killer. To be honest, Spruce worked much better than the Pesticide brand, which we used in our front yard (we do not use this green area so often, so I was not worried that our children or pets were nearby). Not to mention that Spruce is a far more alternative for both my family and the environment. Personally, I pay a little more to be able to use our garden comfortably without worrying about the chemicals our pets or children could encounter.
