The gate in Darlington Lodges plan for the new lounge bar

The gate hopes to create a “more comfortable relaxed atmosphere” by revising a room on the upper floor for Punters and adding a new staircase.

The Blackwellgate event location described the space as a place where customers “chat with background music”.

Plans submitted to the Darlington Borough Council describe how bosses replace “tired” windows and want to modernize the front, suitable Julia balcony railing up to slices and wooden grain cladding.

The new stairs would be installed to enable the change of use on the first floor and would be on the ground floor next to the entrance lobby.

The floor plans show that the room on the upper floor would accommodate its own bar with access to the existing male and female toilets.

The gate initially applied for two folded doors in the lounge, with concept art showing a new “above the goal” sign on the outside of the building.

However, this was then changed in order to install new windows in their existing room instead in order to reduce the ability to sound on the street.

The latest plans do not show the signage “over the gate”.
