The designer reveals 7 simple steps in a show topping garden in every budget

While we would all love a room outdoors who competed with that of Kew Gardens, it can often appear like a tedious task to create a breathtaking garden – not to mention one that breaks the bank. But an expensive looking garden can be achieved without expensive plants or professional landscape design.

With some thoughtful planning and simple tricks, you can create your dream outdoors, which corresponds to both your style and your budget-even if you are not particularly green. These seven tips approved by experts can transform your garden into an elegant, refined retreat

Dark fences can help to get their plants to get

“For a simple, inexpensive garden idea with immediate impact, adding a color shoe is a guaranteed way to completely change your garden,” says Molly Woodward-Moor, interior designer and creative director at Stone Superstore. “With the right color you can refresh furniture, fences, planters or even your old paving stones.”

Molly suggests that darker colors such as the black or steamed marine for your wooden fence to offer a contrast against the lighter plant gross and at the same time hide dirt and moss more effectively. “Black colored facing is a popular garden trend that will remain and offers a chic center of gravity from which stylish furniture and living plants really stand out.”

String lights are perfect for increasing a room

“The lighting outdoors is an effective addition to every terrace area that corresponds to it inexpensive and high rewards,” says Molly. “Floor lanterns or pile lamps that are distributed on a path or in a planting bed produce bags with warm light.”

In order to further illuminate her room, she suggests integrating string lights between the fence post or Pergola structures or wrapping a tree.

Upcycle your furniture

Painting old furniture is an easy way to revise your garden

“Upcycling or DIY-Ing of your own furniture is a budget-friendly way to refresh your garden,” says Molly. “You can use colors, wood coloring, waterproof upholstery or even decorative tiles to become creative.”

You can also get second-hand furniture on local marketplaces to enable a few TLC and most likely achieve a bargain. “Make sure you prepare all the surfaces correctly and use colors and adhesives for outdoor furniture. This means that your hard work is not wasted after a wet spell,” adds Molly.

Consider the plants you buy

Periods can help to improve the color scheme of your garden

“Fill your boundaries with evergreen bushes or colorful perennials such as Peonies, hydrangeas and lavender that will look great every year,” says Molly. You not only save money, but can also avoid planting regularly.

The selection of plants that return every year also makes it easier to build up a consistent color scheme, which looks more polished and coherent in your garden.

Zone your space

The zoning of your garden can help to feel less crowded

Molly recommends to be used by paving, furniture arrangements or plants in order to separate different areas of your garden outdoors. “This segmentation feels less crowded and ultimately creates the illusion of a larger area,” she says.

It also helps you to use the best of your garden by creating different rooms to relax, entertainment or even increasing food.

Less is more

A grid is a popular choice for a statement piece

“Sometimes it can be difficult to end your creativity, but it is important not to overwhelm your layout with too many different styles,” explains Molly. Strive for simple furniture, low -maintenance functions and focal points that do not complicate your garden.

If you only select an outstanding function, such as a colorful grille or a sculptural bank, you can arouse visual interest without overfilling the room.

Create your own function

You can make a funny statement without fingers

“If you are not particularly green, you may try to express your personality in other ways,” says Molly. “One approach is to create a dynamic function that can act as the center and complement your furniture or paving.”

You can also select a statement color related to your flower beds to paint your fence in order to have a coherent splash of color. Molly suggests a DIY-Tiled table for a tenant-friendly option, a trend that conquers social media in the storm.

Molly's biggest outdoor trends for 2025

Living/outdoor life

“Gardeners are increasingly combining interior and outdoor spaces, whereby coherent materials and versatile furniture are produced seamless, stylish transitions between interior and out. From patterned carpets and trendy pillows to decorative lighting, these diverse parts are a great way to fall into their outside space.”

Tour gardens

“Tour gardens are quickly gained in popularity, as a design approach that focuses on creating inviting and intimate spaces. The key to reaching this trend is to create a curved feature, be it a cozy seating area or a flower bed, and from there to train outwards.”

Chaos garden work

“Chaos Gardening celebrates the beauty of natural growth and promotes the free form that promotes biological diversity. This trend is ideal for those who are looking for a low -maintenance garden that develops organically.”

Green watering

“With green potions, it is about creating an immersive space in which the green is the focus and focuses on enveloping your garden with a variety of herbs and plants to surround yourself with fresh and lively leaves. Apply the same theory to your outside decor and furniture as green pillows or cozy blankets to improve the trend.”
