Coldstream Council Updates

At its regular session on Monday, the Coldstream Council was updated via several projects.

Old Firehall Renovation/Public Works Buildings
- From February 18, 2025, the infrastructure services have developed from the infrastructure service building. The project was completed in good time and within the budget.
Paving management program – Uplands Drive
- In this project, isolated basic repairs, drainage improvements and a new asphalt surface are carried out on the highlands Drive between Rockland Drive and Highlandscrescent. Urban Systems creates the tender documents for the project and the tender is expected in March 2025.
Kal Beach Pier
- The cold Snap slows down the progress in the construction of the new pier; However, the installation of the cover materials continues with a completion date from mid -March 2025. However, access to the beach is only limited for the area fenced by the pier.
Aberdeen wastewater canal
- The project was displayed and a building contractor will be determined in mid -March. Construction is expected to begin in April and will probably extend by autumn 2026. In this project, the Selkirk Drive sanitary channel infrastructure is installed to Wiseeby Drive, including service connections from the network to property boundaries and the widening of Aberdeen Road to create safer, paved school for pedestrians.
Blockage
- The evaluation of the dangerous materials from the building is almost complete; The contractor will then be removed from the exterior of the building in March. The demolition of the superstructure is completed as soon as the necessary archaeology permits are obtained from the province. The administration will search for the future of the park by the council according to the guidance of the council.
Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP)
- The design for the ATNP is complete and the second round of the commitment for public and community partners took place at the beginning of this month. The collected feedback is included in the final design of the plan, which will be presented to the Council at a regular meeting in March. Coldstream Park irrigation
- Designs for the improved irrigation system in Coldstream Park have been checked by the employees and the project is ready for the tender in early spring.
Coldstream Valley Estate's drainage
- Drainage improvements at 175 Scenic Drive and in the ditch along the Rockland Drive were included in the 2025 capital plan and in the 2025 financial plan. The schedule for these projects is determined after the introduction of the financial plan.
Turtle Nisting
- Habitat improvements for the turtles, such as the nesting grounds, are regarded as part of landscape planning after demolishing the log house on 8505 Kalavista Drive.
EV charging stations
- BC Hydro is located in the design phase of the project and has completed a site survey. The construction of the stations could take up to a year before the construction itself takes about a week.
