The City of Unity, NH solicits bids for replacement of Brown Bridge superstructure over Little Sugar River. This project proposes to replace the existing single-lane timber deck supported on steel beams with a 16-foot-wide, single-sided reinforced concrete slab superstructure (outside-to-outside span of 36 feet). Cold Pond Road will be closed while the work is completed. These include, but are not limited to: removal of the superstructure (existing guardrail, wooden deck and steel beams), possible rehabilitation work of the substructure (up to inspection of the substructure beneath the removed superstructure), installation of a new superstructure (formwork, reinforcement and concrete), compaction and fine grading of the driveways to proposed levels, paving of driveways and installation of bridge railings and access guardrail. There is no mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled, however all contractors must confirm their site inspection. Because this is a relatively small, off-season project, this is an opportunity for contractors to fill gaps and deploy crews between construction seasons. The bid deadline has been extended and bids will now be accepted at the City of Unity offices until December 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Alternatively, offers can be sent by email to k.biron@ eckmanengineering.com and must be received by December 15, 2025, 2:00 p.m. Accepted bids will be opened and read aloud, with a contractor selected at the Selection Committee meeting on December 15, 2025.
