The Arlington Heights Park District complements its primary recreation center in the middle of a growth of the fitness courses and children's programming.

The two -story addition in the northwestern corner of the Arlington Ridge Center, 660 N. Ridge Ave., will improve the experience of the customers by relieving the need to hold private courses in the large open gym, the officials of the parking district said.

The expansion is built north of the main entrance to the west side of the Rec Center. Construction begins soon after the village of Board has granted Zoning permits for the 4.8 million dollar project on Monday.

“This is certainly a big problem that you actually need more space because this was so popular,” said Dorf -Treuhänder Robin Labedz.

The new room will include a multi -purpose room on the first floor for children's programs and a private fitness room on the second floor. Outside, the design will mix with architectural elements of the existing building, as it has the same material palette made of brick and glass.

In order to make room for the expansion, an outdoor basketball court is moved outdoors to the southwestern corner of the building and then surrounded by a decorative fence between 4 and 8 feet.

A playground is removed and reinstalled north of the new building space with improved devices and new swings.

Renovation work is planned within the current building to find changing rooms by the pool. Two new private family compound rooms are added, and current changing rooms are being surrounded for additional changing space, as requested by the users of the Aquatics facility, according to the officials.

The building underwent a renovation and expansion project of $ 17 million, which doubled its size and was reopened at the end of 2019. Now the largest interior of the Park District in an area of almost 100,000 square meters and the Rec Center is home to a double-gymnasium, six-lane lap pool, activity pool, 12-foot diving-well-water pool, rubberized walking and fitness center.

The construction of the latest addition should be completed in phases by the beginning of 2026.

The renovation work in the pool cover rooms takes place in summer to minimize disorders because the outdoor pools are open, officials said.
