Studio MCW transforms London into a "room for hosting"

Open-plan entertainment rooms with a marble kitchen island and a Skylit-E dining table occupy the heart of this London homeland, which was renovated by Studio MCW for the founders of a luxurious catering company.

The Victorian terrace in the southwest of London became the Spanish tradition, which took part in the table after a meal in the meal, for Opus 11 founder Charlie and Joshua Karlsen, to be “prepared space for hosting”.

Previously divided into three Betsi apartments, the local practice studio MCW United has expanded the house with side, rear and attic extensions, so that the ground floor of the apartment could be opened into a room for meetings that are flanked by a small courtyard and a garden.

“The spatial organization of the house was designed to serve both the rhythms of everyday family life and the love of customers for entertainment,” studies director Greg Walton told Dezeen.

“The layout gently chore the movement through the house: the guests are greeted directly into the reception room, ideal for drinks and conversations,” he continued.

“From there, the plan enters a spacious dining area, which is strategically positioned and framed from above from two courtyards with soft, falsified light filtering.”

Varied soil surfaces and large thresholds destroy the movement between the rooms, with oak floors in the front lounge and reception areas lead to a concrete floor in the dining area and a paved soil that fits into an outer terrace in the back extension.

A large marble kitchen island divides the kitchen area from the dining table, whereby the benches along the wall of the side extension are positioned, where it is under a wooden light with wood.

The marble Island is reflected from a large mirror in the kitchen, which is surrounded by a curved niche, which is surrounded by built -in oak fishing Limineating furniture.

Wood frame glass doors lead in the hard, created garden of the house. In addition to a curved part of the brick wall, the rear and the side extensions and hugs combine a small planter and a concrete bench that is overlooked by the dining area.

“We have organized ourselves with our inspiration – the curved brick shape was inspired by Lewerentz 'St Mark's Church, where the architecture almost felt carved and built,” said Walton.

“Victorian Bogenways and plaster details were also expelled from the existing property, which subtly informed the expansion curves and arches,” he added.

The first floor of the house contains the main bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe next to a television room and an en-suite bedroom, while over the loft conversion contains two more benzimbore for the stage.

The bedrooms were continued with the natural, structured palette of the ground floors and are completed with lime -packed walls in cream and dark pink, supplemented by marble and terracotta tile bathroom.

Earlier residential projects from Studio MCW include a number of stone and wooden clothing trains to a large house from the 18th century in Cambridgeshire and an extension in London, which is divided by the tailor-made timber art lock.
