The bikes are on the move to install two solar -powered duck feed dispensers at the Arklow's Riuchaft and duck Pond, which create a new, joint -related activity that can be enjoyed by all members of the city.

The contactless feeders delivered by “The Feed Duck's Initiative” are made available to the local authorities free of charge, whereby the community groups take on responsibility for the filling and maintenance of 10 percent of the income.

The feeders, which are made of recycled plastics, which correspond to 20,000 plastic bottles, in public parks and waterways in Ireland, Great Britain and the Netherlands, born from the founder Matthew Knight to feed the ducks with his son during the pandemic, which arise from recycled plastic.

Cllr Peir Leonard in detail the plans for Arklow at the MD meeting in March and said that the feeder would be of great use for the city and that they would have already received the support of several group groups, and hope that they could be included in the initiative Autism Friendly city of Arklow Autism.

“I was contacted by a lady named Amy Synnott via a duck feeding station for the duck pond in Arklow, as you have in Wicklow,” she said.

“I have joined the company and they develop a newer model and I would suggest that we have one on the Duck Pond in the Seaview Avenue and one on the River Walk.

“I also spoke to two community groups who want to take on the role, and hopefully the feeders will be included in the” Arklow Auclow Auclow Friendly Town “initiative, whose members are very interested in the activity that it will deliver with the funds collected from the community group.

“The safe could accommodate the seed for that on the Riverwalk and refill it, and maybe the deck café could do the same for the duck pond.”

At the end of the discussion, Leonora Earls, said that the group or the person must be obliged to maintain the feeder, and added that they had delivered six 15 -kg sacks of bird feed in Wicklow Town every few weeks, and she goes into the feeder with a ladder to fill it.
