Shiocton, Wis. (Wbay) – Spencer Young lives a dream in his back yard in Shiocton.
“This is a full -time job for me,” said Young. “I'm just a Packers fan who became an artist.”
An artist who makes a name for himself in a large and creative way.
“I did everything, from the installation of mural across the country to the adaptation of football tunnels,” said Young. “Football tunnels that I can see on TV on Sundays do you know? The players of Green and Gold Packers.”
The 34-year-old is a former collegiate and semi-professional offensive Lineman and exchanged his helmet for another device with which he is familiar.
“Since I can remember, I think I had a (color) brush in my hand before I went,” Young recalled and praised someone special to present him to art. “My grandpa was an artist. So if I would always hang around with him, we always went against art competitions and stood on a piece of paper to see who would have the better drawing.”
Finally, Spencer's skills switched from the newspaper and the canvas to the fences outside of Lambeau Field, and now the feet of the green -gold and gold players who fight against the Gridiron on a certain Sunday, starting with the broad recipient Jayden Reed.
“The first couple I did for him were 'kitschy tunnels', so they had cheese holes everywhere, his football number,” said Young. “The first game he was wearing her made Bleacher Report Kicks an entire post that had 40,000 likes. It was definitely viral.”
As you can imagine, if you have a gift like Spencer, the word quickly travels. Especially in an NFL cover room.
“A man and then another guy and so on and so on,” recalled Young. “In week 13, Thanksgiving, I had pretty much 30 players in the changing room to contact individual tunnels.”
In the end, he developed over 60 pairs when the 2024 season was changed for the Packers, and no matter how many couples he designs, the thrill for this little city artist does not disappear.
“When you see your work on TV and it is exactly that it is everything I can imagine or dreamed,” said Young. “Not only an artist and painting, it is so surreal to see it in the whole world. You trust me.”
A trust and passion were deserved to make grandpa proud on the way.
“When he died, he unfortunately missed all these Packers options that I only had one of the die -hard Packers fans I ever knew,” said Young. “I know that he is looking down, great, super proud.”
