At the beginning of March, Seattle Parks and Recreation is planning to install six foot high, rolling gates outside of the two entrances to Hoa Mai Park in Little Saigon to hold the illegal activities in the park, said Seattle Parks and Recreation spokesman Rachel Schulkin in an e -mail to the International examiner.

“Hoa Mai Park was the goal of vandalism and other undesirable activities, which is a serious security concerns,” says the project description in the city's records.

According to Schulkin, the gates are closed from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., which seems to be closed in hours in which the park is officially open. The Seattle Parks and relaxation Website for Hoa Mai Park lists his open hours from 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

According to city records, the value of the fence is 65,000 US dollars, which are financed by the city of Seattle Emergency Management Fund and Seattle Park District Fund.

The gates are “decorative iron to the adjacent properties,” said Schulkin.
