Saudi Arabia unveils most futuristic stadiums for 2034 World Cup (I)
  1. Stadiums of the 2034 World Cup in Riyadh

The 2034 World Cup, to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2034, will be held in 15 stadiums (one more than required by FIFA), spread across five venues, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Wednesday, December 11 are: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha and Neomwith Riyadh being the most populous with 15 million people and Neom being the modern city on the west coast.

<p>Saudi Arabia wants to host the largest and most important World Cup in history and has unveiled 15 mega stadiums to impress the world with facilities in unique locations that break the norm. <strong>Combining luxury and futurism with Saudi traditions, the 15 stadiums that will host the World Cup have the best facilities and accessibility in the world.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Saudi Arabia has invested in sport in recent years. </strong>The Arab country has become a popular destination for prominent footballers from European leagues in recent years, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Neymar Jr.</p>
<p>For the first time in the 100-year history of the World Cup, 48 teams from six continents will take part in the auspicious event <strong>“The best World Cup of all time”.</strong> That's why Saudi Arabia has unveiled the 15 fields that will be part of the world's largest sporting event.</p>
<h2 id=Stadiums of the 2034 World Cup in Riyadh

The World Cup stadiums are all less than two hours' flight from each other: 8 in the capital Riyadh, 4 in Jeddah, 1 in Neom, 1 in Al Khobar and 1 in Abha. In this article we will focus on the stadiums in the capital and their importance for the tournament.

The first and most important thing is this King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh. With a capacity of 92,760 spectators, the opening game and final will take place here. There will be more than 100 square meters of video scoreboards in the stadium.

It will be located in the heart of King Abdulaziz Park. The stadium will be a pioneer in sustainability with its green roofs that blend seamlessly into the surrounding area. The stadium is the only one of the 15 stadiums that has the minimum number of 80,000 seats required by FIFA to host the final.

<p>The <strong>Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium </strong>will host the third place game. It is a modern venue to be built southwest of Riyadh. Its unique three-sided design will be integrated into a cliff and will be the entertainment center of the Qiddiya project. Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and be completed in 2029. <strong>The total planned capacity is 46,979.</strong> </p>

<p><strong>King Fahad Sports City Stadium</strong> will host the semi-finals. The venue currently hosts the Saudi Arabian national team's home games and is undergoing renovations for the 2027 Asian Football Championship (AFC).  </p>

Once completed, capacity will be increased to 70,200, exceeding the minimum number of 60,000 seats required for the semi-finals. In addition, the athletics track will be removed and special service facilities will be modernized.

The King Saud University Stadium Games up to the round of 16 will be played. The venue currently hosts Al-Nassr's home games and will be used during AFC 2027.

A renovation will then begin in 2029 to temporarily increase capacity and improve the services offered. The total capacity is 46,319, exceeding the minimum number of 40,000 seats required to host round of 16 matches.

<p>The <strong>New Murabba Stadium</strong> will host group stage games. The modern stadium being built in the northwest of Riyadh will have a roof whose design is inspired by the bark of the acacia tree typical of Riyadh and is adapted to the living environment. Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and be completed in 2029. <strong>The planned total capacity is 46,010 spectators.</strong></p>

<p>The <strong>Prince Faisal bin Fahad Sports City Stadium</strong> Games up to the round of 16 will be played. The venue is under construction as part of a sports and recreation plan and will be used for AFC 2027.<strong> The estimated total capacity is 46,865.</strong></p>

<p>The <strong>ROSHN Stadium</strong> Games up to the round of 16 will be played. This modern stadium, to be built in the southwest of Riyadh, will feature a glass structure designed to adapt to the spaces in the residential area. Construction is expected to begin in 2028 and be completed in 2032. <strong>The total capacity will be 46,000.  </strong></p>
<p>As with the new Murabba Stadium, the large roof structure could present some disadvantages in terms of flexibility to place removable decorative solutions in the surrounding area.</p>

This venue will be built in the southwest of Riyadh as part of the Green Riyadh project and will be connected to Wadi Namar Park. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2029 and be completed in 2032. <strong>The expected total capacity is 47,060 spectators.</strong></p>
