Regional and international trade bridge
Lang son has long been considered a “gateway” for international trade in Vietnam. Every day, thousands of vehicles go through Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh Grenztor, with a lively flow of goods connected to the lively flow of goods with China and larger markets in Asean and Europe. Lang son has contributed this important geopolitical position to confirm his central role in the regional trade network.
According to the decision No. 236/QD-TTG of March 19, 2024, the Prime Minister approved the planning of the province of Lang Son for the period 2021-2030, with a vision until 2050 to build a long son into a growth rod, an economic center of the Northern Middle Land and the mountain region. In particular, the Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate economic zone is organized for a modern and dynamic economic center as well as the national and international logistics center.
Mr. Duong van Huyen, deputy chairman of the Volkes Committee of Lang Son, said that Lang son will not only promote his traditional role as a transit point for Vietnamese-Chinese goods with this vision, but also to an increasingly important bridge between Vietnam and Asean, China and Europe. This means that the trade promotion in Lang Son will not only serve import export companies, but also to open up sustainable consumption for agricultural products and products of ethnic minorities directly.
Lang son is considered the “gate” of the international trade of Vietnam.
Digital export: breakthrough in trade funding
One of the groundbreaking solutions that Lang Son selected to promote the trade is the digital transformation, in which digital export and digital border goals are identified as columns. In fact, the province has so far placed almost 21,000 products on e-commerce platforms and occupied the 2nd place nationwide. More than 50,000 successful transactions have helped many mountain specialties such as Star Anis, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Black Jelle, Shan Tuyet Tea etc., reach consumers nationwide and gradually form their brands. In particular, 93% of the households of agricultural production are trained in digital skills, an impressive number that took the 3rd place nationwide, which reflects a fundamental shift in production thinking, from small sales at trade fairs to participation in e-commerce and large supply chains.
Mr. Duong van Huyen commented that this is the basis for products for ethnic minorities to continue to achieve: “ The rate of households of agricultural production, which are trained in digital skills, which reach 93%, is an important basis for increasing the value of ethnic minority products and bringing mountainous agricultural products to participate in national and international markets. “
Together with e-commerce, Lang Son also did the implementation of digital border goals. Since 2022, 100% of import and export vehicles have submitted online declarations by Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh Grenztore. Almost 2,000 companies have registered accounts, all information is processed quickly and publicly and significantly reduces the time and costs. This is an important step from traditional trading to digital exports, which contributes to the transparency of the process and improves the effectiveness of border trade promotion.
The province does not stop, the province implements the pilot project for Smart Border Gate -the first model in Vietnam with a dedicated, independent import export -road system, synchronous data connection between the two countries, application of unmanned technology, automatic container cranes and 5G satellite positioning. Mr. Duong van Huyen emphasized: “The The Smart Border Gate project is expected to promote import-export activities with the aim of increasing the customs closing capacity by 2027 and 2030 by 4 to 5 times in comparison to the present to increase 2-3 times . “
This is not only a technical solution, but also a modern platform for trade promotion that opens up the possibility of a direct connection with international partners, especially in the area of cross-border e-commerce.
Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park model
Blood vessels for goods that are far from logistics
When digital exports and digital border gates create a soft infrastructure, logistics is the hard infrastructure that determines the competitiveness of goods. As a mountain border province, Lang son faces many difficulties in transport costs, and the warehouse system and the logistics centers are not synchronized.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai, director of the department for industry and trade, honestly admitted: “ The competition in logistics is very high today. The unit that has competitive prices will win in commercial business. Lang son, however, still has many difficulties due to mountainous terrain, high transport costs and lack of synchronization in camps . “”
To solve the problem, the province has invested many resources in the most important infrastructure: Huu Nghi – Chi Lang Expressway, Dong Dang – Tra Linh Expressway and upgrade of the National Highway 4b. These are important routes that combine the Nanning – Hai Hai Phong – Quang Ninh Economic Corridor and open an important transasia trade route.
Therefore, strategic projects such as the Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park, the Dry port system, the bound warehouses are also implemented … to complete the logistics chain, operate import and export and border-crossing e-commerce. At the same time, the province also focuses on building a trade promotion mechanism through the connection of supply chains. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai added: “ We regularly organize commercial promotion conferences and connect companies with logistics units, customs and border protection officers. The aim is to form a closed supply chain, to reduce costs and to export competitive prices for agricultural products . “
Digital transformation, smart border goals and modern logistics become columns of commercial promotion.
Thanks to this connection, many products of ethnic minorities such as Star Anis, Cinnamon, Black Jelle, Shan Tuyet Tea, etc. will not only consume well on the domestic market, but also have the opportunity to penetrate the international market with greater added value. It can be seen that Lang son shapes a new direction in commercial funding with the camaraderie of three pillars: Digital Export – Digital Border Gate, Modern Logistics and Benztorwirtschaft. When Highland products in the past support traditional border trading channels with smart border gates and cross-border e-commerce, products of ethnic minorities have a new “pass” to reach the global market.
When Star Anis, Cinnamon or Cardamom cross the border to reach friends around the world, this is not just an economic journey. It is also proof of the permanent vitality of indigenous culture and the desire for change in ethnic minorities. As Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai confirmed, it is a practical way to connect the supply chain and reduce the logistics costs in order to achieve a competitive advantage for mountainous agricultural products. And according to Mr. Duong van Huyen, the customs closing capacity will be many times a starting pad for goods for ethnic minorities to get into the international market with a new position.
From the border region of the fatherland, Lang son continues to write an ambitious history of trade promotion, in the border gate economy, logistics and digital transformation not only helps the goods to travel far, but also to increase the brand of ethnic products and to proudly make them proud of the global trade card.
