Two quays on Kawau Island will receive a large revision of almost 6 million US dollars this year, with the kind permission of Auckland Transport (AT).
The school building Wharf on the south side of the main port of Bon Accord The island is in the first snake with a partial reconstruction in early April. The work includes the replacement of Hartholzdecks, Kai head heaps, feces of feces, distribution and packaging of existing piles.
There were about 1.3 million US dollars in the total costs for the Wharf school building. The completion was planned at the end of June if the weather conditions are available.
In May, according to studies by the location and pile reviews in October last year, South Cove Wharf was set for a comprehensive reconstruction.
An AT spokesman said that the complete remedial measures would include the strategic exchange of stacks, tensions, bars, straps and terraces, whereby more robust and longer hardwood materials and steel piles are used. Repairs for sea walls are also carried out on the KAI.
“The total project costs amount to around 4.5 million US dollars, subject to confirmation of the construction method,” she said.
“The construction will take about four to six months because the location is exposed and the work is heavily dependent on the weather. In a worst case, construction will be completed in early November. “
Old scales on both quays should also be removed and replaced.
“We will renew the quays on Kawau Island to ensure that they will stay in operation for both locals and for tourists,” added the spokesman.
“There could be a little noise, but we will try to minimize it. Normal ferry services should be continued without interruption – we plan the construction to minimize the effects on public access, although some sections of the KAI have to be closed.
“We work closely with the community to keep everyone up to date during this project.”
