Increase numerous dead fish in the Kanpur pond stink

Kanpur: Over 5,000 fish were found dead in a pond in Ghatampur in Kanpur, which triggers great dissatisfaction among the locals. The dead fish appeared in the pond for three days and, due to the bad smell, closed discomfort among the residents due to decomposing fish.
The locals claimed that the old pond, which is located in the village of Gujela within the jurisdiction of Ghatampur Kotwali, suffers from serious pollution. They attributed the deaths of the fish to an excessive accumulation of dirt in the pond, which reduced the oxygen content, while some suspect suspected chemical contamination. The persistent stench has severely affected village life, and the residents are increasingly frustrated with the inactivity of the authorities. Despite the alarm of the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), no official inspection took place.
“We have been complaining about the pond in the pond for a long time, but nobody took measures. The deaths of the fish are a clear indication of the severity of the problem,” said a resident.
Yaduvendra Singh Vaishya, SDM from Ghatampur Tehsil in Kanpur, confirmed that he received a complaint from the village head. “The matter was forwarded to the fishing department for investigations. We will take punitive measures against the fish responsible for the deaths of the fish,” he said.
