A nice addition to the new office based in Chicago complements a beloved community garden in North Lawndale, where the Sukkah Design Festival takes place in Chicago. The project was a collaboration between New Office and North Lawndale Historical and Cultural Society (NLHCS), a group that committed to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the West Side quarter, its people and their architecture.
Previously, a new office took part in the Sukkah Design Festival. In recent times, the NLHCS office offered its Designdienste Pro Bono and ultimately delivered a new garden terrace in the African Heritage Garden, a staple in the community that was jammed between the brick houses in front of the waistband with a flourishing flower bed. The new terrace and your daes pavilion via New Office overlook the garden.
“The aim of this project is to design and construct a space that serves as a symbol for the African heritage for the local community,” said Annabell Ren from New Offuch in a statement. “The design is inspired by a traditional African hut that offers a math light that connects to nature and sky, and a stove that serves as a meeting point and relaxation area.”

The design of New Office is economical, but powerful: the terrace is made of wood and the structure is supported by conventional frame methods. A skylight invites light into its centers. A masonry path leads and attracts visitors from the sidewalk. Flower beds with vegetables are planted next to it.
Apart from its useful make -up, the terrace of symbolism is charged. Ren said: “The plan of the hut is based on the Adinkrahene symbol, which consists of three concentric circles, symbolize the charisma, leadership and size.”

Ren added that today “the space is actively used by the local community for various events and offers a shady rest area for gardeners and an event location for meetings and celebrations.” She also said: “This structure has become an essential part of the community , promoted connections and honor to appreciate the cultural heritage. “
Ren said A This new office takes over a new customer per bono every year to continue projects like this. Ren said that a new office is currently calling for “after our 2025 community partner”.
