Stmicroelectronics has introduced the StDRIVE102H and STDRIVE102BH and started a new generation of integrated gate drivers for three-phase brushless engines to increase performance, efficiency and economy in consumer and industrial plants.
With a operating voltage range from 6 V to 50 V, the STDDRive102H can be easily configured via two analog pens for one-shunt controls and StDRIVE102BH for the three-shunt control. A simple resistance divider can program the gate-drive current supplied to the external MOSFET and can optimize designers the performance level, including the limitation of the switching Slw rate, without using gate resistors. With a low-current standby mode that effectively preserves the battery power, the new drivers are suitable for cordless electric tools and devices, e-bikes and mobile robots as well as industrial drives.
The drivers integrate load pump circuits that are able to maintain the high-side mosfets indefinitely, which simplifies the design of applications, for which a PWM working cycle of 100%is required. In addition, the load pump ensures that the high and low MOSFETs are powered with identical gate-source tension in order to compensate for the behavior of the performance level. In addition, internal regulators (LDOS) with a low dropout (LDOS), which provide 12 V and 3.3 V for the low-side circuits of the drivers and the analog front-end (AFE), can be used for favorable power supply damage.
Other characteristics are comprehensive protection against electrical and thermal dangers. In addition to the undervoltage closure (UVLO) and thermal shutdown, the monitoring of the drain source voltage (VDS) is provided for both high-sided and low MOSFETs, guarantee redundancy in overcurrent protection. A quick error signaling reacts immediately when a protective mechanism is triggered to improve the safety and reliability of the systems.
The EVLDRIVE102H and EVLDRIVE102BH assessment bodies accelerate the development of systems using various schemes, including field-oriented control (FOC) and six steps. With a motor back-to-compensation in board and inputs for engines that are equipped with position sensors for additional precision, the boards offer standard header for the connection of STM32-NUCLO-WILT-MICROCONTROLLER BOORS. The X-Cube MCSDK STM32 Motor-Control Software Development KIT (MCSDK) offers the tools and code engineers who build up the engine and develop their application and develop the application.
The StDRIVE102H and STRIVE102BH are now available in 5 mm x 5 mm or 6 mm x 6 mm QFN packages, price of USD for orders of 1000 parts.
