Maximo Wood has partnered with Dr. Decks (Jason Russell) announced for the release of his new docuseries. Beyond the deckPremiere on Instagram. The five-part series takes viewers behind the scenes of Miami's most impressive residential projects from five of the city's top developers. Each episode highlights high-end applications of Maximo Wood's sustainable products and takes a close look at the company's wood, which extends beyond the patio to walls and ceilings for outdoor and indoor use.
In the first episode titled “From Darkness to Light: The House in Ponce de Leon,“Dr. Decks visits a Miami residence that was transformed from a dark, mahogany-filled home into a bright, modern retreat. Along with builder Rey Gonzalez, owner of On Site Company, and his team, Dr. Decks highlights the project's standout features, including ceilings and soffits by Maximo Thermo Ayous.
“We wanted to take a dark, heavy house and make it bright and fresh,” Gonzalez said. “Maximo Thermo Ayous gave us that look while providing durability and performance.”
The remodel replaced the home's dark tropical aesthetic with bright Thermo Ayous, brightening the interiors while maintaining durability in Miami's humid climate.
“Look at how tight the stitches are with each incision,” Dr. said. decks. “It's not just about putting boards together, but cutting each piece twice to make it perfect. You can really see that level of craftsmanship.”
The house features complex compound miters that transition from angled soffits to flat ceilings. Gonzalez and his team carefully aligned every joint, creating seamless surfaces that feel both modern and natural.
