Teachers and experts of the future can enjoy a garden that was designed with the future at Limerick's Mary Immaculate College (MIC).

The college has organized an award-winning company to create a sustainable landscape for his Limerick campus.

The master plan through multi-price-crowned landscape and architecture firm Levitt Bernstein puts “the existing landscape and historical assets and celebrates and at the same time creates a clear” vision “for the future on the campus and supports built-up facilities”.

The master plan process identifies a number of Phased Landscape works that are intended to improve and supplement the existing amenities.

The main goals include the integration of sustainable design approaches and the research of the possibilities to continue to “Greens” the campus.

Michael Keane, Vice President of the Administration and Financing at MIC, said that the plan has been carefully taken into account since its foundation in 2023.

“While College has considered its external campus in an environmentally friendly way for several years, the motivation for the commissioning of the landscape master plan was the feedback from Limerick City and County Council, since the college broke out the planning process for our new library and learning resource center,” he said.

“In addition to the built environment and our long -term goals in this area, the ecology and the biological diversity of the campus must be respected and maintained. Our common rooms must be functional, accessible and also include in all aspects in view of climate change.”

Mr. Keane said: “Levitt Bernstein helped the microphone to develop an ambitious plan that will help to make the campus more coherent and maximize its footprint”.

Kate Digney, landscape architect and deputy director of Levitt Bernstein, said that the company “was happy to work with a microphone stakeholder to provide a new landscape vision for the campus”, and found that “we were hit by the rich and ripe landscape environment of the campus and the obvious preferences of the College community for their outdoor areas”.

“The advantages of the health and well -being of an improved public empire are in terms of content and the plan aims to create a functional space that can be activated by a diverse part of the college community.”
