Design affects almost every aspect of our lives, and good design can solve problems and improve health, security, community connections, the environment and life. Last weekend, the top designs exhibition opened in the Melbourne Museum with 77 selected works by 2024 VCE students throughout Victoria.
“Top designs 2025 exhibitors question the changing world to suggest innovative opportunities in relation to sustainability, place, community, automation and craft,” says Melbourne Museum's website.
A selected design is the VCE Systems Engineering project, which Evan Cauchi has completed during Catholic Regional College Sydenham, Sydenham. Evans 'Solar Powered Electric Boom Gate' shows his extraordinary technical skills, innovations, commitment, hard work and commitment to sustainability.
This is not the first recognition for Evan or his project. Last year he received a future innovator's award for future engineering and his potential to have significant effects on the areas of technology and engineering in the future.
When Evan was awarded with the ADF Award, he said: “This recognition … reflects countless hours of research, design and hard work. It is an incredible feeling of bringing my ideas to life and making an impact. A big thank you to my teachers, colleagues and everyone who supported me on the way.
Another selected exhibitor for top designs is Caitlin Bouwmeester for her visual communication design work on Padua College in Mornington. Caitlin's customer was 'Greenlife Mornington Peninsula', a small independent, non -profit organization that focused on the support of the health of Mornington Peninsula Community.
Caitlin designed a community garden and The fresh products Recipe book to support Greenlife's work to change the eating habits and reduce the burden of health problems within the local population. The selection of the top designs is proof of your extraordinary talent, your commitment and her hard work as well as the instructions and support of your teacher Christine Blake.
