The celebrity hotspot has unveiled stunning new rooms and suites that celebrate the city's industrial heritage
A premium Newcastle hotel has unveiled a complete renovation of its rooms and suites with a £3 million investment, giving its boutique style a vibrant, colorful and modern feel.
The transformation of Malmaison Newcastle, one of the city's most famous Quayside landmarks, includes a redesign of all 122 rooms across seven floors. There are fourteen suites on the top floor – all named after ships that reference Newcastle's shipbuilding history – and offer stunning views of the River Tyne and the Millennium and Tyne Bridge.
The refreshed interiors of the major revamp, previously reported by ChronicleLive, are inspired by the city's industrial heritage and its contributions to art and music, with corridors that feature nods to the iconic Tyne Bridge and subtle shading references of magpie feathers.
Guests can relax in bedrooms that pay homage to the retro pop art designs of the 1960s and 1970s, with bold color accents that reference the era and feature prominently in the furnishings and decor.
Illustrative wall coverings add a dose of Malmaison's signature style, including patterns influenced by the music and fashion scenes of the 90s and 2000s, providing the backdrop to an experience as bold and diverse as the city of Newcastle itself.
Located in a striking, heritage-listed former Co-Operative Society warehouse on the Quayside, Malmaison Newcastle remains one of the North East's top boutique destinations for city breaks and business stays. Popular with celebrities, it's ideally located for access to Newcastle's top attractions, including the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the Glasshouse International Center for Music and the Baltic Center for Contemporary Art.
The first floor restaurant, Chez Mal Brasserie and Bar, seats 140 guests and serves a menu that combines the traditions of a modern British brasserie with a subtle French touch and seasonal dishes created by head chef John Woodward. All accompanied by a carefully selected wine list and an outstanding cocktail menu.
Chris Lyall, Cluster General Manager Malmaison Newcastle, said: “The £3 million renovation investment reflects our continued commitment to evolving the Malmaison experience. The new rooms and suites enhance the guest experience, but also contribute to the continued vibrancy of the Quayside and ensure Malmaison Newcastle remains one of the leading The city remains a boutique destination for both business and leisure guests.”
