Larry Willard Peterson (January 29, 1937 – September 25, 2025)
Linda Peterson (May 4, 1944 – September 29, 2025)
We announced the death of Larry Willard Peterson and his beloved wife Linda Peterson, both from East Garland, Utah, with a heavy heart. Larry died peacefully on September 25, 2025 at the age of 88. Just four days later, Linda followed on September 29, 2025 at the age of 81. Her death is a tender reflection of deep love and unity just a few days apart, which you shared throughout your life.
Larry was born on January 29, 1937 in East Garland, Utah, the son of Fred Willard Peterson and Bernice Smith Peterson. He visited Garland Elementary and completed the Bear River High School. He proudly served in the US Army and embodied the values of duty and service that defined his life. Larry worked for many years at the Ukon Water Company and helped develop the culinary water systems in East Garland and Fielding. He also worked in Thiokol in the road and terrain department and retired in the 1990s. As a man with many skills, he had a lifelong passion for cars and even built one with his brother Jerry. As they drove through the streets of Garland, Larry hit a sweet girl named Linda – the beginning of her lifelong love story.
Larry and Linda were married on November 4, 1963 and later sealed on April 1, 1966 in the Logan Temple. Together they built a home full of love, laughter and faith. Larry was a devoted father, a talented woodworker and a loyal member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the last few days. It served in many professions, also in the diocese, where he led with humility and care. He loved caring for his garden, camping with the family and creating beautiful woodwork that remain valued heirlooms.
Linda was born on May 4, 1944 in Brigham City, Utah, as the son of Preston Engvar Petersen and Cleone Steed Petersen. She visited Thatcher Elementary and completed the Bear River High School. After married Larry, she fully devoted herself to her family and became the heart of the house. Linda was a remarkable housewife who loved to cook, sew and take care of others. It was an exquisite crochet and countless handmade blankets and souvenirs for family and friends. Linda became known for her taffy production and her quiet, steady service and blessed everyone around her with her warmth and creativity. She also enjoyed training Powder Puff softball. Linda, a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the last few days, served faithfully in many appeals, especially in basic and reciprocity, where it promoted and raised youth.
Together Larry and Linda lovingly raised four children: Danny, Alicia, Cindy and Jamie. Her house in the East Girland was an oasis of love, faith and belonging – a place where everyone felt welcome.
In death, they are preceded by their parents, siblings and other dear family members, who undoubtedly greeted them happily in their heavenly reunion. They are survived by their children Danny (Pam), Alicia, Cindy and Jamie (Traci); ten grandchildren; Five great -grandchildren, expected from another in April; And many expanded family members and dear friends.
We will always remember Larry because of his woodworking – his hands have shaped more than wood; They built a legacy. We will always remember Linda because they tied their crochets and taffy production – have tied their stitches and sweets together.
A visit will take place on Friday, October 10th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Fielding Stake Center. The funeral will take place on Saturday, October 11th at 11 a.m. with a tour of 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. to 30 a.m., followed by a funeral at the East Garland Cemetery.
“They are no longer where they were, but they are wherever we are.”
The family would like to thank Comforcare, CNS Hospice and Maple Springs Memory Care for their compassionate care and support during the last few days of Larry and Linda.
