Chris Tasker, Manager for Water and Information Management for the Upper Thame Conservation Authority, gave an update at the Tuesday board meeting of the authority that the level of the lake is only 0.3 meters below the upper edge of the dam.

“We have put a long way since we started filling it again,” said Tasker.

The fight began on July 24th when a strong rainstorm triggered an automatic release on the RT Orr dam. A lock game on the dam was opened to prevent the upstream floods after the northern end of the water sheath was given 30 to 40 millimeter rain, including 25 millimeters in just 30 minutes. Rümmer was caught under the goal and left it open for a week before the nature conservation authorities' employees were able to successfully clarify it.

General Manager and the Secret Treasure of the Authority, Tracy Annett, noticed the important work that came to the evacuation of the rubble and monitoring of the lake. For example, about a dozen employees moved more than 1,000 stranded mussels for three days.

“I think to have a lot of discussions with the city's employees and to recognize the importance of Avon River and Thelake through Stratford. This is something that has been overlooked a little in the past, and directs a little more on how valuable is a good for the city,” said Annett.

Although the cost estimates have not been published, the operating costs for the dam are usually paid for by a municipal tax. All additional costs are taken from reserve funds, which in turn determine how much the delivery will be in the future, explained Tasker.

Tasker's report to the board mentioned several options for preventing future incidents, such as: B. better debroren management in parks and on the dam, alternative gate designs and the use of garbage shelves.

Tasker's report also brought the opportunity to fully pull the lake every winter, similar to the practice at Mitchell Dam and the Reservoir, but such a step would have consequences for life and winter recreation in the water.

However, Tasker also told the board that debris would always be a challenge in view of the type of nearby park.

“It is constantly delivered to the system. It is a well-maintained park-many beautiful trees that cover the water drop branches. The surface water flows into it and brings rubble with it,” he said.

“Every single branch that falls into water is probably not a reasonable expectation. Appropriate levels to reduce this unload and better manage it are probably reasonable, ”added Tasker.

Regardless of whether the efforts to reduce ruins from the nature conservation authority are pursued, the operating plan currently in the development is included in RT Orr Dam.
