If the cold and strict winter has something good, it is the ski season-and especially the après-ski activities. The expression usually refers to the bar and club scene in ski areas, but also to après-ski style has developed into its own aesthetics, which is characterized by relaxation and conviviality in an alpine environment.

In the interior design, the après-ski style can ensure that a room feels elegant but still inviting and warm and serves as a perfect place to relax and for entertainment. Todhunter Earle Interiors defines après-ski-style as a combination of “luxury, chic, warmth and comfort with practical functionality, which serves to extend the pleasure of a day spent on the slopes to the hiding place,” said the Interior architect Katharine Pooley thinks similarly.

“The après-ski aesthetics is about capturing the essence of luxury of life-comfort and elegance-in a rough and beautiful surroundings,” says Katharine. “It is a style of furnishing that embodies the feeling of looking back on the high -towering mountain with a steaming hot drink in hand, which you have just conquered, after hours of fearless coping with the cold terrain, calm and total comfort after Adrenaline off the slopes. ”Adventure with a pounding heart.

As far as the decoration is concerned, the après-ski style can be achieved with three furnishing trends: stone gray accessories, gnarled wood designs and artificial fur surfaces. These three characteristics reflect the alpine environment, which according to many interior design experts like Nicky Dobree is essential for the après-ski style. Nicky says that when designing an après-ski-style interior, one should be inspired by nature in order to bring nature inside in a chic and luxurious way. With natural colors such as stone gray, alpine materials such as gnarled wood and comfortable synthetic fur surfaces, you can also create a tasteful après skiing facility that is suitable for entertainment and relaxation with a pinch of luxury.

Alpine houses and chalets generally reflect their surroundings and often consist of natural materials such as wood or stone. The decoration with gray is an easy way to play with the aesthetics without making large cosmetic changes on your interior.

Think of gray carpets, gray pillows, gray blankets and even gray furniture. Gray accents give your space the appearance of natural stone in a comfortable and stylish way. Use this color as the basis for the structure of your après-ski interior.

Wowing wood is widespread in mountain houses. The good news? It is currently a fairly large design trend. In a mountain hut look, filigree wood paneling and wooden furniture radiate the comfort of the après-ski style.

Kate Aslangul, designer of the interiors shown above, indicates that working with local materials such as natural wood is an important design element for après-ski interior. “In order to give the chalets a timeless and homely feeling, I use layers from different materials, textures and upholstered furniture, choose complementary wooden surfaces for paneling and furniture and mix both strong and rough, earthy wood surfaces.”

If you do not want to equip your room with wooden paneling, opt for additional wooden furniture with gnarled details such as a chest of drawers, a lamp or a side table. This characteristic, which strongly reflects the alpine environment, helps them to become an après ski aesthetics.

According to the designers of Todhunter Earle Interiors, art fur surfaces are indispensable for the après-ski style. “Boucle, fur and lush shaggy flora give a luxurious touch through their inviting textures and are perfect for relaxation zones in which the après-ski party extends into the night,” you notice. “These materials not only donate warmth, but also give every room an elegant, sophisticated flair that is essential for the creation of a real alpine ambient.”

Art fur elements such as decorative pillows or ceilings ensure the soft and elegant comfort that you need in alpine houses, and are therefore key elements for relaxation in the après-ski interior style.

While Après-Ski is all about the natural environment, you don't have to live in the mountains to achieve this aesthetics. Designer Nicky Dobree gives a few tips that you can integrate into your home.

“Choose comfortable seating where people can relax and make contacts,” says Nicky. “Add earthy and rich colors. The atmosphere you create results from the materials you use, so layer them with textures such as linen, leather, wool and fur. Integrate vintage skiposter or a few ancient skis. Bring elegance with rusticity with natural materials such as wood and stone. With these ideas in mind you can also develop an après-ski style, no matter where you live.
