After spending Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago with President Donald Trump and her family, First Lady Melania Trump unveils the White House Christmas decorations for the 2025 season. This year's theme is “Home Is Where the Heart Is” and the interiors of the executive mansion are filled with 75 wreaths, 51 trees and more than 700 feet of garland, according to the AP.
The First Lady hired designer and stylist Hervé Pierre to oversee the decorations. Highlights include Lego portraits of Presidents George Washington and Trump, both located in the Green Room. (Each portrait is made up of more than 6,000 pieces.) In the State Dining Room, meanwhile, is a mini replica of the White House made from 120 pounds of gingerbread. “It's edible, but you can't take a piece of it with you,” said Melania's spokesman Nick Clemens USA today.
One of the most striking rooms is the Red Room, which includes a Christmas tree, wreaths and garlands decorated with 10,000 blue butterflies. The insects represent “transformation and renewal,” according to the first lady's office, and are mixed with ornaments that pay homage to her anti-bullying campaign, “Be Best.”
This year's featured tree is an 18-foot silver fir sourced from Korson's Tree Farms in Michigan. The tree is decorated with 2,800 stars commemorating military Gold Star families and takes pride of place in the Blue Room.
Despite ongoing construction on the $300 million White House Ballroom, the executive mansion is actually open for tours during the holiday season. The White House expects tens of thousands of visitors to view the decorations in the Grand Foyer, Entry Hall, East Room, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room and State Dining Room.
