Housatonic Visioning Session Set for Saturday | South Berkshires

Great Barrington – The Housatonic Improvement Committee will invite an open meeting in the community input to the master plan and the vision for the future of Housatonic on Saturday morning.

In a master draft created by the committee, the transforming house describes in a lively, inclusive and environmentally friendly village in Great Barrington. It describes a place where creativity, local economy and sustainability are supported in the next decade and referred to it as the “eco-cultural corporate district”.

The committee gathers on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Berkshire Pulse with a unique agenda article: What do the members of the communities want to see from Housatonic in the next 10 years? Anyone who gives thoughts about what works at Housatonic or what works is greeted to take part.

The decision for a meeting on Saturday morning is based on having as many people as possible, Eric Gabriel, deputy chairman and secretary of the Eric Gabriel improvement committee, said during the selected board meeting on Monday. For those who cannot use personally, Gabriel said to send comments to his city email.

The draft of the plan shows initial improvement areas, including basic infrastructure and living space, modernization of the Ramsdell library and expansion of the RICHALD. It proposes additional community and co-working rooms as well as the activation of free plots with pop-up events and programming.

During the entire Draft Plan, a strong focus is on being environmentally friendly, the free-free zones and bicycle traces as well as a green infrastructure and a climate plan.

The committee will take over the comments and its results for the next regular meeting in September.
