HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) – Attention all Henrico residents! If you want to dispose of your Christmas tree in an environmentally friendly way, your opportunity has come.
Henrico County is offering free Christmas tree recycling services from Thursday, December 26th through Thursday, January 9th.
All trees collected are processed into mulch. This recycling service, offered by Keep Henrico Beautiful in partnership with the Department of Public Utilities, helps save landfill space and protect the environment and is available only to Henrico residents.
Trees are accepted at the following locations:
- Henrico County Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road, in the lower parking lot;
- Eastern Government Center, 3820 Nine Mile Road, in the front parking lot;
- Springfield Road Public Use Area, 10600 Fords Country Lane, near Nuckols Road and Interstate 295; And
- Charles City Road Public Use Area, 2075 Charles City Road.
Trees can be dropped off at the Henrico Government Center and Eastern Government Center at any time or at the public use areas on Springfield Road and Charles City Road from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Residents are required to remove all tinsel, lights, ornaments, tree stands and water bowls before recycling. They are also reminded not to put trees in their bins or leave them on the side of the road for weekly rubbish collection. Trees cannot be collected even if they are chopped into smaller pieces.
In addition to free tree recycling services, free mulch is available to Henrico residents in public use areas.
