Causes have been expressed that the introduction of digital advertising screens could contribute to the unhealthy food through the Council.
In September in September in the Wokingham district in Wokingham Borough were approved and installed this month.
Around 20 electronic display signs were used in seven bus stops across the district, including Reading Road, Wokingham Town Center and Molly Millars Lane.
While the design is electronic, Wokingham Borough Council says that they are more sustainable, with planted green roofs or solar collectors.
While they are managed by an external company Trueform, the council receives part of the share of advertising income.
However, concerns about the type of ads displayed were expressed.
The Helen Palmer, who lived in Wokingham, who lived in Wokingham, told the climate emergency overview and the district council's examination board on February 25, his advertising sponsoring was “inappropriate” and cannot control what is being issued.
In view of the obligation of the Council to combat the climate, Ms. Palmer said it should say goodbye to a guideline to prohibit advertising with high fat, sugar and salt food.
The resident said that this had already been implemented by other councilors across the country such as Sheffield and by Transport for London.
Chairman of the Catherine Glover Committee said the Council is currently working on a new advertising policy.
The Liberal Democrat added that all ads must comply with the behavioral kodices in the latest advertising regulations.
In her supplementary question, Ms. Palmer said that it was an “ethical” advertising policy “important for the residents of Wokingham.
She questioned the progress of the plans mentioned by CLLR Glover because she and other activists had been informed that the plans had started for the first time in April 2024.
Environmental fighters had previously spoken out against the plans and argue that it was a “eyesore” and would look incongruent with the historic market city.
Rona Topaz from ad Block Reading and Wokingham told the local democracy reporting service in September: “Digital screens are generally environmentally friendly, they use a lot of energy. Basically, it not only causes light pollution, the heat generated can actually damage the environment. “
When approving the program for approval of the Wokingham Borough Council's planning committee, the ads could not be highlighted between midnight and 5 a.m.
True form also said that the screens have an “ambient lighting control”, which means that they are automatically stupid if light levels are lower and “minimally” illuminated in the dark.
The new digital panels are as “cost -effective as Possibke” because it uses lesser energy consumption according to the true form.
Environmental protection officers have not obtained any objections to the plans.
The electronic screens were implemented at the beginning of this month after a period of time.
