Apatura has obtained the building permit for a new 150 MW capacity battery -energy storage system (BESS). In Paisley, Renfrewshire, only 17 miles southwest of Glasgow.
With the approval of the Neilston project, the BESS portfolio of Apatura now exceeds 1035 MW and strengthens its role as a key player in the provision of Net -Energy infrastructure.
The location of Neilston is the sixth Bess, for which Apatura has received a declaration of consent in the past 14 months.
When the program comes online, it will make a significant contribution to the goal of the Scottish government to generate 50% of total energy consumption in Scottish energy from renewable sources and to deliver an energy system NET zero by 2045 said the developer.

The Neilston Bess, which includes a battery bearing device, the associated infrastructure and planting of new local species trees to improve biological diversity, was approved by the Energy Consissines unit on February 4, 2025.
