Welcome to the first FEGC Hole Design Contest! We invited all members of the fried egg golf club to submit their concept for a golf hole in accordance with the following guidelines. The winning design, as defined by a jury of judges and FEGC members, is set up as part of a real golf course project.
If you are not a member of FEGC, you should still join today!
Competition description
The project in question, which is currently called Ace Valley, becomes a brand new 13-hole Andy StaplesAsgca, and Breezy Point Resort In Minnesota.
Ace Valley is used as an educational instrument for the history of golf architecture for people in Minnesota and beyond. In this publicly accessible course, Par-3 adjustments of renowned holes with a focus on strategic earnings, great green design, fast play pace and creative shot will focus. The course is based on a new socially oriented clubhouse, a terrace and a put-course experience.
Design guidelines
The competition hole will be the opening hole in the Ace Valley and plays as a medium to long par 3 on a fairly flat piece of soil. The green is placed on a comb that drops slightly from left to right. See the basemap of the competition below.

Φ

1. The hole is to be designed on the center line provided – a max length of 180 meters from the rear tee, but can be made shorter if necessary.
2. The hole should be designed as a “template” of a renowned existing hole and/or green. It does not I have to be a traditional CB MacDonald/Seth Raynor template, but it should be a strategic merit and should be recognizable as an iteration of its source of inspiration.
3. The “template” used should differ from the others on the course. While there can be some similarities, the overall concept and the overall concept and the strategy should be unique.
4. The green will play about 180 meters from the rear tee from another green (“short” 10th). This angle creates the need for a certain separation between the greens and an understanding of how balls are approaching in the direction of the adjacent green.
5. The judges will take a positive look at entries that contain an outstanding strategic function in design. This can be a carry feature, a rock wall, a sand dune, etc.
6. Creative classification/land forms (hills, ditches, berms, etc.) are all a fair game as long as they fit into the selected template and are thoughtfully integrated into the website.
Further information on the website can be found in the competition of the competition, including existing topography, trees, proposed cycle and characteristics adjacent. These can be integrated or left out in your design as desired.
