Experts and historical lovers who compete in front of landscaping plans near historical city gates in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The proposed plan of the Chhatrapati sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation and an NGO about landscape design in and around some of the Historical city gates have raised doubts among experts and historians who are concerned that the development would influence the structural strength and visibility of the gates.
According to the plan, landscape development, wherever possible, would include Miyawaki plantations.
Advocate Swapnil Joshi, the Co-Convener of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach), a non-profit organization that promotes Inheritance preservationsaid that no landscape development should be carried out by the historical gates by overlooking the laws to control and promote the government and the state government's provisions. “Conservation and beautification of the historical city gates must be carried out sustainably so that they are available for posterity. We reject all plans that influence the structural strength and the all-side views of these goals,” he said. Kulkarni Sanket Kulkarni said that more focus is on scientific preservation and improvement in roads that lead to the city gates instead of leading to landscape development. “The landscape development in which undesirable trees become plants will increase the threat to the growth of undesirable vegetation on city gates,” he said.
Bhadkal Gate, Delhi Gate, Makai Gate, Katkat Gate, Roshan Gate, Range Darwaza and Paithan Gate are among the historical gates that were built during the Mughal -era in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Some of these goals are currently being carried out.
When Natasha Zarine from Ecosatva, an NGO partnership with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), was contacted, it is said that the concerns that have been raised by experts and historians are unfounded. “The development of city gates includes the identification of open rooms for green plantations. At such places ,, Miyawaki Plantation is taken into account. It also includes the identification of rooms for parks and gardens in which Miyawaki is not taken into account. We also plan to carry out plantations near gates if possible. Miyawaki is not taken into account in such places and was not used, “she said. The CSMC authorities concerned could not be reached for their comments.
