Driver and dog rescued from vehicle that crashed on I-57 - Shaw Local

BOURBONNAIS – The driver of a Jeep and her dog were rescued by emergency responders Sunday morning after the Jeep left Interstate 57 and landed in a pond.

The driver was traveling north when, for unknown reasons, the Jeep left the east side of the roadway south of the Bourbonnais Parkway (318) exit.

According to a preliminary investigation by Illinois State Police Troop 5, the vehicle crashed through a fence and a field before coming to rest right side up in the pond.

The crash occurred around 6:16 a.m

The woman and her dog were rescued by members of the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District. According to authorities, they were assisted by the Manteno Fire Protection District.

The driver and her dog were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, ISP Troop 5 said.

ISP was assisted by the Bourbonnais Police Department.
