An agreement was reached in the dispute over the removal of country artist Mary Miss. Greenwood Pond: Dual location at the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa. The Art Center will pay the artist $900,000 despite a court order for breach of contract over the planned demolition of the 29-year-old outdoor sculpture last spring.

On the occasion of her win, Miss stated: “I hope that the revival and reconsideration of this project will lead to further reflection on the relationships between artists, environmental issues, communities and our public cultural institutions.” I trust that this experience can contribute to this in the future to build stronger bonds.”
