Deckorators publishes 2025 Outdoor Living Report

With forecasts for a combination of falling interest rates and an aging real estate market, 2025 appears poised for a renaissance in home modernization—particularly in outdoor living projects. As consumers look to move to a new home or invest in their current home, luxury upgrades and premium outdoor living spaces are at the top of the list, according to experts surveyed for Deckorators' 2025 Outdoor Living Report.

Deckorators, part of the UFP Industries family, released its 2025 Outdoor Living Report as these unique conditions took hold.

Deckorators' annual report was consulted with an exclusive network of talented contractors from across the country. The report includes key insights from: A year of conversations, feedback and panel discussions that provide an authentic industry outlook and brand business and innovation updates.

An updated look and feel to the report—focused on project photography, a sophisticated design, and a dedicated industry forecasts section—makes it more user-friendly for clients and designers alike.

“Our mission in producing the Outdoor Living Report each year is to provide an informative overview of trends and changes in the industry, as well as a source of inspiration for outdoor design,” says Michelle Hendricks, Category Marketig Manager at Deckorators. “This year’s report is packed with expert insight and impressive project features that represent world-class craftsmanship. We look forward to continuing to help professionals and homeowners imagine the full potential of their own outdoor spaces.”

Prominent trends outlined in the 2025 report include:

  • WELLNESS DECKS: “Today, homeowners value — and place a lot of value on — wellness experiences in their own backyards,” says Hendricks. “As demand for hot tubs, outdoor showers, cold water pools and saunas increases, homeowners are leaning toward putting wellness at the heart of their outdoor home design, ultimately representing an investment in long-term health and well-being.”
  • MULTI-LEVEL DECKS: “Maximizing space and functionality have long been a priority for most homeowners’ outdoor living design,” says Hendricks. “Multi-level patios have been gaining popularity recently, allowing homeowners to optimize their use of space and enjoy their outdoor living spaces in different ways throughout the year.”
  • BIOPHILES DESIGN: “Our contractors have noticed that their clients are starting to prefer patio designs that mimic nature,” says Hendricks. “Homeowners prefer more organic design elements such as green spaces, natural light and curved patio shapes to promote a deeper connection with the world around them.”
  • LIGHTING: “Lighting is important to ensure both safety and atmosphere in the outdoor living space. “We saw some innovative design solutions this year that really take things to the next level,” says Hendricks.

“The 2025 report comes at a time when the outdoor living market is poised for significant growth,” adds Hendricks. “With this in mind, we have added a new Industry Forecast section to highlight and explain the variables driving this growth so readers can stay informed.”
