Mantis Games has published the first big update for his Roguelike Horror title Deck of the haunt At Steam, which introduces the new chapter “Nightmare” on June 13, 2025. In this update, the most challenging content is presented, including the debut of nightmare mode, new maps and features, a trap starter deck and an increased level cap.
The nightmare mode calls on the players to survive 13 consecutive nightmares, each consisting of 13 cursed nights. Each nightmare presents new groups of people with unique properties and escalating modifiers that consist of one challenge to the next and create an increasingly complex and demanding fence. Strategic thinking is essential because the players navigate this series of experiments.
The Sensenmann is an important feature of this new mode. The players collect souls by inducing or making kills, and as soon as 13 souls are collected, the Reaper can be called to immediately harvest a person of the player's choice. By completing all 13 nightmares, the crypt room is activated so that the Reaper player can connect to other game modes. Survivors also have access to new maps – body explosion and paralysis – as well as a new performance.
For those who have had the experience level 12, the update adds a trap starter deck. This new deck is ambush and synergies to offer creative ways to challenge the mechanics of the game through indirect and strategic means.
Additional refinements in this update are improved heart -death animations, the removal of dead human portraits and a new gymnastics counter for people with the characteristic “helpline”. The name Pool for people was also expanded to include “Jason” in relation to Friday, the 13th.
To celebrate the arrival of the nightmare update, Deck of the haunt is available on steam by June 16, 2025 with a 20 percent discount.
