COSMO special chemicals start OGR barrier layers for sustainable packaging
The OGR 145b, a non-heated tightly lockable barrier coating, offers excellent oil and fat resistance to food packaging applications

Cosmo Specialty Chemicals, a 100% subsidiary of Cosmo First and a one-stop solution for a number of adhesives, master batch and coating chemicals, has launched the innovative area of oil and fat resistant (OGR). These advanced solutions offer sustainable alternatives to conventional polyethylene coatings and take into account growing environmental problems and at the same time offer superior performance.
Various governments worldwide have implemented the phases of traditional polyethylene coatings that focus on sustainable packaging solutions. COSMO Specialty Chemicals moves in this direction by interpreting two different OGR coatings – OGR 145b and OGR 145S – for the fulfillment of different packaging requirements in the industries. These formulations based on water are a coveted solution for the packaging industry in their efforts to make green production.
“Our new range of OGR barrier coatings reflects the commitment of Cosmo Specialty Chemicals for innovation and sustainability,” said Raj Sharma, managing director of Cosmo Specialty Chemicals. “Due to the development of environmentally friendly alternatives that maintain powerful standards, we deal with the current market requirements and the expected future needs. These solutions provide extraordinary barrier properties and at the same time support the environmental goals and the requirements of the regulations for the regulations. “
The OGR 145b, a non-heated, tightly barrier barrier coating, offers excellent oil and fat resistance for applications for food packaging. Its unique formulation offers superior properties of water and oil resistance, compatibility for a variety of coating applications, anti-blocking properties, zero voc emissions and is compliance with the FDA for direct food contact.
This is supplemented in the OGR 145S variant and leads to thermal medication functions that have been specially designed for the production of cardboard cups. This coating provides improved heat seals for binding paper-to-paper, excellent resistance to water, moisture, oil and fat, flexible application options such as gravure, flexo and air meter coating and adherence to food for safety.
