Community leaders meet for breakfast at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center

Catherine Goodson, Business Engagement Specialist at Job Corps, welcomed the group and highlighted the students' recent community involvement.

Job Corps students played a key role at Waterfest, where they helped set up tents and assist vendors. This year they were particularly instrumental in setting up the water play equipment for the children. Their support during the event did not go unnoticed and many participants expressed their gratitude for their hard work.

In addition, Job Corps students contributed to the success of the recently organized Irish Festival. Students in the safety program were responsible for managing the event site, checking in attendees and even setting up a first aid tent. Her professionalism and dedication have been praised by local business owners. One of them planned to look for opportunities for security students to help with events on her property in the future.

The NJROTC program also played an important role in the community, offering flag raising ceremonies on special occasions and proudly participating in local parades.

One notable community project involved Job Corps carpentry students who came to the aid of the Friends of the Wells, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring bottled water and preserving historic wells. After a recent storm damaged the Crystal Lithia Pagoda, carpentry students rebuilt the decorative fence and restored it to its original condition.

The breakfast also celebrated a long tradition of Job Corps students' involvement in the community's Christmas festivities. The culinary arts students once again delighted the audience by preparing hundreds of delicious cookies for families to enjoy after the Hall of Waters Christmas parade.
