The girder installation required an extended closure of Highway 1 from Saturday night into Sunday night to allow crews to use two heavy cranes at either end of the project area to complete the work. The installation of the nine precast concrete beams advances construction of a viaduct that will replace a section of southbound roadway lost in a slip in March.
