The city of Niagara-on-the-Lake wants to see a big picture view of how the residents really feel like holiday rentals in the city.

It is preparing to create a report on the opinions of the locals to create a short -term rental industry, which is scheduled to begin at the beginning of next year.

This report will lay the basis for another discussion of the council about how the industry in the community should be regulated: “Before the start of busy summer tourism season,” wrote the city's employees in a briefing to the council.

This forms one of two areas of activity for the city by short -term rentals that come together in the larger project to keep an eye on the short -term rental landscape.

The other is what to do to change the short-term rental rental that the city passed in 2021, with a license system being defined for these types of rentals and limited the number at 231.

The mayor Gary Zalepa said that the council had already received significant information and he was ready to make a decision to change the short -term rental rules.

“I'm worried when we see a close group of people for their feedback,” he said. “I like the idea of ​​getting this broad information base from the rest of the community.”

Rating Tim Balasiuk also supported the approach.

The Council submitted an application for receipt of the personnel report.

Particular attention is paid to how hut rental and villas are regulated. These properties have criticized that they work in residential areas without an owner on site.

The residents have expressed concerns about noise and sometimes occur as delegates at council meetings to express their frustrations.
