Behringer brings two classic synthesizer designs to Eurorack

Behringer has launched two new Eurorack modules inspired by 1970s classics: the BQ-10 analog sequencer and the SDS-3 four-channel drum synthesizer. Both units are scheduled to be available in Australia in mid-December.

Find out about all the news here.

The BQ-10 is based on the SQ-10 sequencer from the 70s and offers flexible step programming over a total of 24 steps. Users can configure it as either a single 16-step sequence or a dual 8-step sequence, with a separate 8-step channel dedicated for CV control of filter or amplitude parameters of connected synthesizers.

Eight different game modes cover the basics from alternating and parallel to series and random patterns. Each channel has its own portamento control to smooth transitions between steps, while a duty cycle control adjusts the overall length of the gate. Dedicated trigger outputs per step allow for creative sequence shortening by patching a step back to the reset input, and there is a trigger input for external clock synchronization.

The SDS-3 recreates the circuitry of the original Simmons SDS-3, a polyphonic analog drum synthesizer known for its distinctive electronic percussion palette. Beyond standard drum sounds like toms, bass drums and cymbals, the module ventures into more experimental territory with bells, gongs, vibes and less conventional sounds.

Four drum channels each have individual controls for clock, decay, bend, pitch, noise and assignable decay kill. A special effects channel offers further sound design possibilities. Trigger options include analog control inputs, MIDI and USB, while four independent analog outputs allow each channel to be processed or recorded separately. With 57 front panel controls, all parameters for convenient sound shaping are immediately accessible.
