Comfortable dining is just one way to combat the chilly fall weather
“Four Seasons of Fun” is an ongoing collaboration between Castanet and Visit Penticton that showcases what Penticton has to offer year-round. Pay attention every Monday morning
Escape the dreary weather and warm up in one of these cozy spaces in Penticton – and treat yourself to a staycation while you're at it.
The Neighbors Guest House is the perfect escape for a staycation and offers a hot tub, a private terrace and a barbecue.
“Guests love the comfortable bed and gourmet kitchen,” said owner Shelly Baker. “What we hear most often is that it feels like we've thought of everything someone might need, which is always a very high compliment.”
Baker said when she and her partner Ken bought the property in 2019, the garage “had been partially converted into a living space, but the city had told the previous owner that it could not be lived in.”
“Ken and I worked for over a year to renovate the garage and bring it up to code,” Baker said.
“When renovating and designing, our main goal was to create a place we would love to stay in. Our guesthouse is warm and inviting because it feels like the best version of home. Warm and cozy when it's cold outside, and bright and airy in the summer.”
Located between Okanagan Lake and the Apex Mountain shuttle pick-up point, Neighbors Guest House offers you the choice of a short walk to the restaurants on Lakeshore Drive for a hot drink and bonfire on the beach or a day on the slopes.
Charge your car with the electric vehicle charger and stay safe in the private, fenced parking lot. The guest house is suitable for couples or families of up to five people.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Penticton while still being within the city limits, and perhaps visit a winery or two that are still open in the fall, the guesthouse at Four Shadows Vineyard and Winery is the perfect location.
Described as a place for a “private, romantic and relaxing getaway,” the guesthouse features “a queen-sized bed with crisp linens and the coziness of the vaulted ceiling with exposed beams ensures natural relaxation.”
With an area of 600 square meters, the guest house is suitable for three guests.
“The French patio doors lead out to the outside terrace where you will find comfortable seating and a barbecue [with] a great view over the vineyard.”
The guesthouse has everything you need to enjoy the ultimate vineyard stay – be sure to check it out online here.
It's not the ultimate getaway or staycation without the warm comfort of a delicious hot meal – and Elma's on Lakeshore Drive in Penticton has a perfect menu for it.
Described as “Turkish inspired…infused with local ingredients,” you will “discover the art of flavors inspired by timeless Turkish traditions and created for modern tastes, with a blend of ingredients that provide that distinctive Okanagan feel and flavor to make our guests feel right at home.”
The decor is sourced from Turkey and “Elma's space reflects our philosophy – warm, inviting and carefully curated. Our large, bright space features tiles, lighting and decor from our native Turkey and also helps to highlight the picturesque setting around us.”
