Although nearly six years have passed since Cosentino set foot in the heart of Los Angeles' West Hollywood design district, the opening is still a night to remember. The venue was packed with players from the design scene and some life-size metal figures, like Goldfinger but painted silver. Were they real pantomimes? Statues? We had to watch and wait to find out the answer. Finally the real star of the evening appeared. Cindy Crawford, as glamorous in real life as she is in photos, was Silestone's brand ambassador. The showroom remained intact until about eight months ago, when it was closed for renovations inside and out.
The former was taken over by Cosentino's in-house team. Step inside and enter a brighter, brighter environment where custom-cut large squares of cream Dekton Nebbia flooring replace its deep gray predecessors. Also new is the focal wall, a ventilated surface that frames a monitor and is cinematic in both size and loop image quality, highlighting surface innovations. At the back, the comprehensive material library, also known as the design studio, is expanded to include textiles, tile and furniture patterns. Perhaps the newest thing of all is the attitude. There's lounge seating, a la hospitality areas galore, and cozy round meeting tables scattered throughout.
“Everything is designed to serve our customers and encourage them to linger and hang out,” says showroom manager Sara Gil Montoya, a native of Almería, Spain, where the company maintains its multimillion-square-foot complex of main factories, which includes: leads to a worldwide workforce of 6,000. (Incidentally, Almeria is the home of spaghetti westerns, including classics sites The good, the bad and the ugly And A handful of dollars). More news? In its current incarnation, the showroom plays up Cosentino's comprehensive bathroom offering, including vanities, seamless shower walls, shower trays and floors, in enchanting vignettes.
Outside, the terrace presents itself with another floor, adding 695 square meters, bringing the total area to 2,200 square meters. It has room-like proportions and is just that: an outdoor lounge for cooking, dining and entertaining. London-born Credit designer Claudia Afshar currently runs a 14-person studio in the Brentwood area, whose portfolio spans the globe and includes projects from LAX to French castles, residences in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and product design .
In fact, it was this last project that sparked their collaboration on the Cosentino renovation. Why couldn't the fluted stone fireplace surround she designed for a luxury home be commercially replicated using a Cosentino product? Quite simply: Armed with samples, she discovered during a trip to the headquarters in Spain that the machines were missing. Not for long, however. Cosentino made the investment and Dekton's Ukiyo (Japanese for “living in the moment”) was launched in November 2023. The material not only covers the Urban Bonfire X Dekton outdoor cooking area, which is of course highlighted by Spanish furniture from Expormim, but also expands its scope under Afshar's development. It looks like a new star has been born.
