On the breathtakingly beautiful Red Sea coast, AMAALA, still underwater, is set to open three luxury resorts by 2026 that will complement the “wellness” component of existing luxury offerings. The facilities will offer dedicated wellness services and have designated wellness zones, in keeping with AMAALA's focus on wellness and nature. As part of Red Sea Global's vision, AMAALA is to become a major, regenerative tourism destination, part of a larger plan to transform the Red Sea Global region. A visionary destination for wellness and sustainability
AMAALA is aimed at discerning travelers looking for a relaxing and sustainable getaway. The destination spans three naturally occurring bays on Saudi Arabia's northwest coast, where the Hijaz Mountains meet the Red Sea. Its surroundings provide a perfect backdrop for wellness retreats, offering travelers the opportunity to reconnect with nature while enjoying world-class amenities.
The project includes six luxury resorts to be opened in phases, with the first resorts expected in 2026. The developments will feature over 1,600 rooms, including branded residences offering an exclusive living experience alongside the resorts. The resorts will be integrated into the surrounding area to ensure minimal environmental impact while providing guests with a tranquil, private experience.
Luxury Portfolio Expansion: Major Resorts and Attractions
Equinox Resort and Residences, one of the first hotels to open, will feature 128 guest rooms and 21 branded residences focused on health, regeneration and relaxation. Guests have access to state-of-the-art wellness treatments and extensive facilities to promote well-being.
Another key property, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences, will offer 202 keys and 25 residences, combining luxury with relaxation. Nammos Resort will have 110 rooms and 20 apartments, including penthouses with breathtaking views, and will focus on creating a social wellness atmosphere. The resort will feature numerous dining options, including the Ilios Bar, with breathtaking views of the Red Sea.
Other new additions include Rosewood Resort and Six Senses Resort, both offering a combination of wellness and luxury, with spacious accommodations and extensive spa facilities. The resort will also focus on ecotourism and wellness treatments in line with AMAALA's commitment to sustainability.
Sustainable design and environmental protection
AMAALA's commitment to sustainability extends beyond traditional eco-friendly practices. The development is a model of regenerative tourism and aims to deliver a net conservation benefit of 30% to local ecosystems by 2040. This includes protecting marine life and improving biologically diverse habitats along the Red Sea coast.
The entire destination is powered by 100% renewable energy, helping to reduce the development's environmental footprint. AMAALA's commitment to sustainability extends to design, with green roofs, solar energy systems and water management initiatives designed to conserve resources while protecting the surrounding natural environment.
Wellness, culture and unique experiences
In addition to its focus on sustainability, AMAALA offers a variety of wellness experiences including spa treatments, yoga and fitness programs. Guests can enjoy the restorative benefits of the Wellness Route, a 5 km linear park that connects the resort's various amenities and outdoor experiences. The project will also include a yacht club, offering sailing enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the waters of the Red Sea and enjoy a range of maritime activities.
In keeping with its focus on holistic wellness, AMAALA will also feature a Marine Life Institute, offering guests the opportunity to learn more about the region's rich marine ecosystems and the efforts to protect them. The resort's Corallium exhibit will focus on educating guests about the resilience of the Red Sea's coral reefs and the importance of protecting them.
Accessibility and connectivity
AMAALA is designed to be accessible to both international and domestic visitors. Guests can reach the destination via Red Sea International Airport, which now offers direct flights from cities such as Doha, Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh. In addition, Al Wajh Airport will reopen after renovations in 2026, providing improved connectivity for the growing number of visitors.
Once open, AMAALA will provide convenient access to nearby cities and major attractions, including historic sites and natural wonders in the region. The development will contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia's tourism infrastructure and support the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and establish the Kingdom as a leading global tourism destination.
