Ace Aquatec and the Shrimp Welfare Project launch portable stunning system

Ace Aquatec's new A-HSU for Shrimp is a small, self-contained, transportable system for stunning crustaceans prior to slaughter, adapted and developed in collaboration with shrimp producers.

The entire unit is mounted on a small trailer so it can be easily transported from the factory to the pond. The unit has been designed to withstand strict biosecurity measures and protocols and allows processing speeds of up to eight tonnes per hour.

“Shrimp producers around the world are demanding a versatile, easy-to-implement system that can simultaneously make the harvesting process more sustainable and efficient while improving quality and streamlining logistics. “We have worked closely with the industry to better understand their needs.” will continue to improve at additional installation locations in the future,” said Tara McGregor-Woodhams, sales manager and marketing representative for Ace Aquatec, in a press release.

Through a partnership with the Shrimp Welfare Project, Sea Farms – a Thailand-based shrimp farming company – is the first company in the region to deploy the new portable system. The Shrimp Welfare Project continues to work with leading supermarkets, seafood suppliers and producers to explore opportunities for further stunning system installations, with Ace Aquatec's technology being one of the available solutions.
