A house in Aspen Valley is preparing the stage for its breathtaking landscape - and a better approach to construction

In a calm valley outside of Aspen, Colorado, a striking house, which is defined by spacious glass swaths, opens up the great beauty of the Rockies. Lift-and-slide glass walls pull off in the two-sanctuary living room, let the mountain air into it and frame an uninterrupted view over the pool and the terrace to the alpine beams and Aspen-grove beyond.

The house is the vision of Türkeldesign, a studio that is known for its mixture of warm modernism and precision regulations. It has all the trademarks of a tailor -made mountain retreat – think of tailor -made cupboards, rich wood cladding and a seamless indoor/outer current – and skillfully uses the apron building.

The 4,200 square meter house of Turkel Design is based on natural materials and the latest design with the simple construction, the accelerated timeline and the cost advantages of Prefab.

“It is so unique for an architect, a package with the outdoor handling, the cupboards and the fittings with this precision and care,” says homeowner Bob Bridger.

For Bob, a former Tech manager who has worked extensively with architects in other houses in the past, the process was as important as the result – and he wanted to avoid the challenges of conventional construction. The Turkel design provided the project from the concept through the manufacture and provided a building component package that the local construction team – by Turkel's meeting specialists – was led with remarkable efficiency. “The building rises incredibly quickly,” says Bob. “And it is remarkable how well everything goes together.”

The great room has a double -sanctuary wall made of glass, lounge area with fireplace and dining area. "Each room has this incredible view of the landscape around us." says homeowner Bob Bridger. "There is no place that is significantly better than someone else. They are all special in their own way."

The Turkel Design approach not only made its predictability, but also because of its design philosophy: thoughtful and coordinated with the rhythms of everyday life. “Every square foot is so carefully considered,” says Bob. “The house feels bigger than it is.”

Sinking lift-and-slide glass walls on both sides of the large space blur the boundaries between interior and outdoor space. "Fresh air moves through the house pretty much all year round," says Bob. "Even in winter we opened windows because we achieve so much solar gain from the glass amount and the reflection of the snow."

The house revolves around an emerging great room that captures the vastness of the surrounding landscape. Sinking walls on both sides let the view (and the fresh air) flow through the house, while the high ceilings and the generous glazing further open the interior for light and air. “When people come in for the first time, there is a moment of awe,” says Bob. “You pause and look in all directions and take it up. And then look back with a smile and say: 'Wow, that's a special place.'”

View from the kitchen island into the large room offers a 270-degree view of the surrounding landscape. "They are in the kitchen and can follow the Ridge line all around." says Bob. "They see how the light moves in this magical, harmonious way in the room."

The house is cleverly split, with social rooms on the ground floor and more private sleeping and office space on the upper floor. The only exception is the main suite, which opens directly on the terrace on the ground on the ground floor and wraps around the corner of the house and enables an uninterrupted examination of the landscape. “In the primary bedroom, it's like no experience that I have ever had,” says Bob. “Nature is so robust here and the bedroom enables them to take it from the moment they rise.”

The dramatic primary bedroom suite is located in a whole corner of the house and is completely glazed on two sides to offer uncompromising access to the spectacular views.

The Turkel design team detailed every part of the house with care and attention, from the thermally modified ash parking tracks and cedar fascia to the swallow tail drawers in customer -specific cuisine. The material palette is equally thoughtful and reflects both regional appropriateness and long -term performance.

Even apparently small design decisions contribute to the general clarity and function of the space. For example, take the clever storage solutions in the kitchen. “Many of the efficiency are invisible in a way,” explains Bob. “In this efficient and designed room there are all of these functions.”

For homeowners in regions such as Aspen-WO, the local workers are scarce and the construction times are briefly-the production of off-site drastically drastically, in which several stages of the construction can occur at the same time. The thoughtful design process and the high-quality range of materials from The Turkel Design prove that prefabic houses can be made without compromises.

“Turkel houses are designed in the long term to adapt the different phases of their lives,” says Bob. “I used it as an opportunity to think about the journey of my own life and ask, what does that mean for my guests? My children? My daily existence? It's a very special process.”
